My background, training and experience.
Life experience and professional training has shaped me as a therapist. Originally I trained as a Registered General Nurse, working for the NHS for 40 years in a wide range of jobs including acute and community care, sexual health, maternal and family health. I realised early in my nursing career that to physically heal the patient was not enough. To support people and their families manage difficult times I needed a different set of skills and an understanding of wider issues. Initially drawn to grief and bereavement counselling in the 1980s, over the years my professional and personal experience grew and I have undertaken extensive university training to enable me to offer counselling to a wide range of clients coping with a variety of issues.Qualifications
